Questions and answers
The interest list
What is the interest list?
It is a list of people who want to hear about Zhittya's planned Parkinson's clinical trials and its medical research studies.
Joining the list is not the same as enrolling in a study. It is free, it does not commit anyone to anything, and you can leave the list at any time.
Who can sign up?
Any adult who is living with Parkinson's, or who cares for someone who is, can join the list. People outside the United States can join too.
Being on the list does not mean a person will qualify for a study. Each study has its own requirements, and the study team decides who is eligible.
Can a caregiver or family member sign up for someone else?
Yes. Choose "A loved one" on the form, and answer the later questions for the person who would take part.
Use an email address and mobile number where the study team can reach whichever of you would like to be the contact. Please make sure the person you are signing up for knows and agrees.
Why does the form ask about health, travel and a passport?
The study team uses the answers to see which studies may fit. Each study has its own rules about who can take part and where it takes place, which may be outside the United States.
Every question is required unless it is marked optional, so the team has what it needs the first time it gets in touch. Answering does not enroll anyone in anything.
What happens after signing up?
- A text message arrives from (866) 786-0044 to confirm the sign-up.
- Zhittya sends emails with more information about its planned clinical trials and its research studies.
- You read it in your own time and decide whether to take a next step. Many people talk it over with their doctor and family first.
To stop text messages, reply STOP. To stop emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email.
What if I cannot finish the form in one sitting?
Each step is saved when you press the button at the bottom of it. If you stop partway, Zhittya keeps the answers given so far and may get in touch to complete the rest.
You can also call (866) 786-0044 to finish by phone.
FGF-1 and the research
Is FGF-1 approved?
No. FGF-1 is investigational. It has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or by any other regulator, for any use.
Does this site say FGF-1 works for Parkinson's?
No. The results on this site are preliminary. They come from open-label research studies with no placebo group, and most of them are reported by participants themselves. Studies like these cannot prove that a product works.
The data section of the research page explains what has been reported and what its limits are.
Should anyone change their medication because of what they read here?
No. Stopping or changing a Parkinson's medication can be dangerous. Never stop or change a medication without talking to the doctor who prescribed it.
